Larry came home at 11:00 a.m. from his temple assignment with a bad cold. We are scheduled to visit with a very sick brother who Larry met during his temple assignment before our mission. This brother had a heart attack, was driven from his home in Kamas to Heber City then choosing to be driven down the canyon to Salt Lake City by passing a helicopter ride. His condition worsened. The angiogram dye stopped his kidneys and he has been on dialysis since, about 3 years. He was now been diagnosed with a cancer in his abdomen. Larry will take precautions to not infect him when we visit. He will not come near him or touch any surface in his home. He will rub his hands with antibiotic lotion and then not touch his face even though his nose is leaking. Larry really likes this man and wants to visit.

I have completed my Visa application but will wait until June after I have been offically been given an acceptance from the university.

Thursday I attended an emergency preparedness lecture on square foot gardening. Friday I went out and bought 4 tomato plants and some herb plants. My back patio is in full sun and a great place to plant these in pots. We then went and bought a bag of "Mel's Mix" which is a mixture of 1/3 each compost, course vermiculite, and peat moss. This mixture retains water and makes the garden work since the soil is only 6" deep. Carrots and Potatoes need more depth therefore additional 6" boxes need to be added. Only one for carrots and 4+ for the potatoes. Watermelon, Zucchini, Tomatoes, pole beans, cantaloupe need trellis'. The plants are watered as needed.

Today we had the rest of our medical work done for our China teaching experience. These are pictures of the apartment and buildings at China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing, China. The univeresity has about 1700 students. We live in campus housing. The trip to China, the housing and utilities are paid for and we receive a stipend of 5,000 RBM monthly per person for incidentals. We are excited to go. We will go to BYU for training (100 hours) for two weeks the first part of August and then on August 20, 2010 we fly to Beijing.

A few more pictures of Hawaii

On our wedding anniversary we went to the Big Island of Hawaii. We went with Joe and Eileen Spendlove. It was a wonderful trip. There was an earthquake in Chili of 8.8 magnitude. There was a warning out to all the Pacific Basin countries and the Big Island evacuated on February 27th for the day. The Tsunami was minimal for which we thank the Lord. We did an endowment session at the Kona Temple, a small but beautiful temple. It had two ordinance rooms; one feeding into the other. We were the witness couple. There were about five sisters and five brothers in attendance.

California Beach, Spring Break 2010

All the family enjoyed the sand and sun in California while snow filled the ground in Salt Lake.

We took Ashley, Cami and Josh to the San Diego Temple to do baptism's for the dead. We all enjoyed the experience.

California Beach Trip to San Diego

We spent five days in California. We flew JetBlue with Preston and Katerina and met Vaughn, Holly, Ashley, Cami, Joshua, Noelle, Rachel, Rebeckah, Enoch and Faith along with Robert, Kristen, Lauren, Cameron, Derek and Emily. Both families drove to California. Debbie came to the holiday from a cruise to Mexico. She flew both ways. We flew with her two children into Long Beach airport then drove to San Diego.

On the holiday we went to the beach and played, went to San Diego Temple for pictures and spent a day at Disneyland.

April General Conference Saturday afternoon session. 2010

Larry and I attended General Conference today. We enjoyed being in the Conference Center. All the talks were good. I enjoyed Elder Holland's talk about pornography since I am teaching a lesson on the Ten Commandments in Gospel Doctrine class next Sunday.

Thursday, April 1, 2010

I have been working on family names to take to the temple. I have found quite a few. We will take the names with us on our family vacation to San Diego, California next week (April 5-9, 2010). Ashley, Cami and Joshua will do the baptisms and confirmations on Thursday night at the San Diego Temple. Larry and I along with Vaughn and Holly will do sealings in the San Diego Temple Friday morning.

Gloucester Cathedral fan vaulting

The Gloucester Cathedral had fan vaulting which was impressive.

Gloucester Cathedral stained glass image

We found this stained glass image in the Gloucester Cathedral. A baptismal font for the dead. Larry asked the priest about baptism for the dead and he didn't know anything about it.

Hidcote Cottages, Cotswalds, England

On a narrow lane near Hidcote Manor and Gardens were these wonderful cottages. We loved seeing them.

Canal boats or narrow boats

England has a network of canals which take goods all over the country. They move up or down with a series of locks. It was interesting to visit.

Debbie's Easter Visit

We visited many manor houses and this is one that I loved. I like the color and shape of the home. The gardens were lovely.

Mission memories of England

We spent two school years in England (2007-09) teaching religion in Institute CES classes to University students in Birmingham and Coventry. We loved our students, fellow missionaries and the country. Our mission covered from Wales to the east coast of England; through the middle of the country. Here are some wonderful sights in England.

This is a wonderful country home in the village of Chipping Campden, Warwickshire.
